Earlier in the year, a colleague shared with me her recent use of ReadWorks.  As a special education teacher, she often needs to find resources that cover the topics of Middle School classes but that are written at a much lower level.  ReadWorks is a nonprofit organization that provides reading and reading comprehension materials to educators for free. Registering with ReadWorks is quick and easy, and in no time at all, you can be downloading lessons, reading materials, units, and worksheets that will help your students succeed.  My colleague found materials for "immigration" which were appropriate for her 8th grades students, but were written at a 4th grade reading level.  Check this out yourself to see what ReadWorks has to offer your students. Above is an introductory video about ReadWorks.

Click on a number each day of December to reveal a Web 2.0 tool.  You could peek early, but what is the fun in that?

Usually, all resources come from my blog Teachers Technology Toolbox or from my own site. This year I've hidden a few gems that I haven't shared with anybody yet.  I hope you find some great tools to use in your classroom this December.  Click the 2013 to get back to the main page.
